Installation of new video player

to play the new video format.

In order to provide the best possible support to our customers we have changed the format of the video files. We noticed that our videos did not play on the Apple iPAD and with one million units sold in the first weekend (US only!) this is a market we cannot ignore.

The new video format would not play on Windows XP and a small questionnaire learned that this operating system is still widely used.

In order to play the new video's you must install the QuickTime player of Apple.

This video player will work on all Windows versions (XP, Vista and 7).

Below you will find instructions how to install this player and to solve some of the most common problems we have identified.

Video plays intermittently

If the video does play, but starts and stops occasionally, your Internet connection may be too slow to play the video in real time.

In that case, observe the download progress, and start playing the video when the majority is downloaded.

Slow Internet connections is unfortunately nothing we can do about.

Step 1: Press 'Next'

Step 2: Press 'Yes'

Step 3: Press 'Install'

Step 4: Depending on the type of installation you may see one or two of the above messages, press 'Yes'

Step 5: Finalize the installation.
Press 'No Thanks' unless you want to upgrade to the full (paid) version of QuickTime.

When the installation is finished, return to this screen and press here to verify if you can properly see the (small) video.

If you use Internet Explorer, Opera or Safari Press 'Run'.

For FireFox press 'Save' and double-click the 'QuickTimeInstaller.exe' in the download screen once the file is downloaded.

For Google Chrome you see 'QuickTimeInstaller.exe' download at the bottom left of the Chrome screen. Click the small arrow next to it and select 'Run' or 'Run when downloaded' to start the installation.

When the installation starts, follow the procedure below:

(You may need to close your browser, so study the following steps).

Install the QuickTime player:

Click on this link: www.apple.com/quicktime/download to download and install the player.

Just press the 'Download Now' button, there is no need to select any option or provide your email address.

Depending on the version of your browser you may see one of the following screens

(or one that looks like it):

Check if QuickTime is installed and if you have the latest version.

To see if QuickTime is installed, go to Start->Programs->QuickTime->QuickTime player and start the player.  If this entry is present, QuickTime is installed.

If not, follow the instructions below to install the player.

In the QuickTime player, press Help->About and verify the version of the player.

This should be version 7.6.9. If not, select 'Help->Update Existing Software' to download and install the latest version.

Verify if the player is 'linked' to the new file format

Go to Start->Programs->QuickTime->QuickTime player and start the player.

Next open the menu: 'Edit->Preferences->QuickTime Preferences' and select the Browser tab.

Click on the 'File Types' button.

Scroll down the list and check if a checkmark is placed in front of '.mp4 MPEG-4 Video'

If not, mark that option. Press 'Save' to close this screen.

Press the 'MIME Settings' button and do the same check.

Note: Please be sure to mark the correct option, you will find an entry for .m4p and .mp4 Only .mp4 should be marked.
