HELP!
I am unable to watch the videos!
Once in a while we receive mails or see desperate messages in our guest book of people who are unable to watch the videos on this website.
In many cases only a few simple steps are required to get the video to show.
There are two main problem areas, each with a different approach:
If you navigate to one of our web pages you should see the black video player screen like shown on the left. If this player is missing, you will see a square rectangle with a small red cross.
Please check the list of suggestions based on the various Internet browsers.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
The Media Player is a standard option in the Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Normally IE should play the video's without any problem.
If you have upgraded Windows 7 to use the new Internet Explorer version 9 then it is possible that the Windows Media Player is de-selected.
To fix this problem:
Mozilla FireFox
Google Chrome
Most likely the Microsoft Media Player plug-in is not installed.
Click here to visit the Port25 website, then click on the "Download Now" button.
Select Run (immediate installation) or Save (save to your computer, then install).
After installing the player, close your browser. Then open the browser again and the videos will now play.
Apple Safari
Most likely the Microsoft Media Player plug-in is not installed.
Click here to visit Apple's Safari plug-in website. Check the list of plug-ins and click on the "Windows Media Player" button.
Select Run (immediate installation) or Save (save to your computer, then install).
After installing the player, close your browser the open the browser again and the video's will now play.
This is very difficult if not impossible for me to solve. Typically your Internet Connection is slower then the amount of data the video requires to play. Your Internet browser will buffer a few seconds, then play them. In the mean time the browser is not able to download more of the video to keep playing.
Typically you will have to upgrade your Internet connection to a faster version, although that is not always possible.
The video runs at 360Kbits/second (36KByte/sec). Even if your connection is faster, your provider may not be able to deliver this (sustained) data rate.
One solution may be:
Start playing the video. As soon as it starts to play, press the "Pause" button
(not the "Stop" button) and minimize (don't close) the browser for some time.
This will allow the browser to load more of the video. The time you need to wait, depends on your connection speed and length of the video.
The first time you connect to the webcam, a small helper program is downloaded from the camera. This helper program is not compatible anymore with the new features in Windows 7.
To solve this problem, you have to delete the old helper program and install the new Windows 7 compatible version.
Note: be aware that the webcam can serve a limited number of viewers. If the number of viewers is exceeded, you get an appropriate message. There is nothing we can do about it, keep trying until someone else stops viewing...
