Some suggestions for (Day) trips:

• Explore the city of Maastricht.
• Visit the American War cemetery in Margraten, one of the largest war cemeteries outside the USA.
• The (touristic) city of Valkenburg with its elaborate cave system, castle ruins, coal mine museum (deep in a cave), cosy city center and well known health spa at the top of the "Cauberg".
• The point where the three countries meet (Netherlands, Belgium and Germany) in Vaals. This is also the highest point in The Netherlands. Long time ago, even four countries met here, what's the name of this fourth country? It is not mentioned in the guide, but explained on site...
• Visit the "Thermenmuseum" in Heerlen, the vast complex of a Roman bath house.
• Various walks in the beautiful Limburg country side.
• Also be aware of the "Euregio pass". A €15 day pass for bus and train. You can travel in the Southern part of Limburg and the adjacent provinces in Belgium and Germany.
