On December 2, 2007, the Dutch  broadcast
company RKK aired a portrait of André Rieu.
On 23 November, André appeared in
the ZDF breakfast show "Volle Kanne".
The first JSO quiz
On December 19, 2007 just returning from his
trip to the USA and Toronto, André Rieu received
a surprise phone call from Edwin Evers.
He called André because he was elected to be
the Person of the year 2007.

On December 19th, 2007, Frank
Steijns appeared in the Dutch TV
program "Max and Loretta". In this
show he talks about his mobile
carillon which he acquired from the
JSO. He also will play a Christmas
medley for us.

At the end of December 2007, Anne Buch
visited us for a few days.

At her request, we visited the historic town
of Hoorn where you will find a café called
"Het Schippershuis". It was here where
Pierre Kartner, while enjoying a beer, was
inspired to write this song.

On January 2nd, 2008, Ruud,
Ineke (from Holland) and Anne
Buch (from Denmark) travelled by
high speed train to Cologne
(Germany), for the New Years
concert. Gemma and Nand (from
Belgium) joined us too.

On January 11th 2008 André
appeared in the German talk

broadcast by the NDR. He looks

and gives a violin lesson to one
of the other guests in the

Benny Neijman was a well known and
popular Dutch singer.
André fans learned to know him when he

On Thursday July 3rd, André surprised us with free entrance for the dress
rehearsal. It was fun to see him at work. All intros to the various pieces were
done in German. The concert was recorded by the German television (ZDF)
and during the real concerts he wanted to do the intros in Maastricht dialect.
Sometimes only the first few notes of a piece were played ("you have not
paid for this concert" he said).

and on October 27, 2008 André and the JSO appeared in the Carmen Nebel
show. Both programs were broadcast by the German TV channel ZDF.

in Australia. Among visiting fan
friends, we attended two concerts in
Sydney and afterwards we toured for
two weeks with a campervan from
Sydney to Melbourne.

On Friday Feb 8, 2009, the Dutch
broadcast company RTL4 aired the
program "Van der Vorst looks at the
stars". Together with his
"star-team" (three special needs
youngsters), Peter Van der Vorst
visits Dutch celebrities in their own
homes. They want to see the whole
house, including the bedroom, but
will they succeed in André's castle?
They also record a new CD.

On February 2nd, 2009 André
appeared in a new afternoon talk
show of the local L1 broadcast
company. André looks forward to   
2009 and 2010 with specials planned
in Berlin (Brandenburger gate), Paris
(Eiffel tower), his tour to South

In the morning he was awarded

"Second Waltz" in the intermission of
the soccer match Ajax - Bayern
München. This performance meant his
breakthrough in The Netherlands,
selling 900.000 copies of his CD

Ruud needed to be in Berlin (Capitol of
Germany) in connection with his job.
I joined him for a private weekend, since
we had not been in Berlin for over 10 years.
Kathi (Caramia), webmaster of one of the
two German fan web sites, lives there and
had always said: "If you are ever in Berlin,
let me know"! Well, we did, and we spent
two most enjoyable days with Kathi and her
friend Ghislain.

movie "BIG". One of the scenes was
shot in the New York flagship store of
FAO Schwarz, where Tom plays a big
piano in an unusual way.
On May 11th, 2009 André,

Traditionally the concert season for a new year starts in the German town of
Cologne. We also spent a few days in that city, watching the fireworks on the
banks of the river Rhine and attending the traditional New Year's concert the

On December 29th, 2009 the Dutch TROS
showed the special "André and Friends".
What is so "special" about this "special"?

On Friday January 29th, 2010 the TROS television showed the episode of
"Flikken Maastricht" (Cops of Maastricht) in which André plays a prominent
guest role. In the picture above you see him with Eva van Dongen (Angela
Schijf), one of the cops. During and after the Maastricht 2009 concerts, shots
were made by the crew of the program on the Vrijthof and at André's castle.

A child disappears, a stolen car stopped and in a bag traces of explosives, a
mad fan with dangerous plans, the whole police force of Maastricht on alert, a
lady rushing onto the square and disappears in the crowd and is Bruno
Gabriels, André's body guard (and Johan's nephew...) really that secure?  
The bomb explodes and André is taking care of Eva van Dongen...

Febr.14th 2010: Sven Kramer just won the first gold medal for
the Netherlands. The Olympic oval in "Svencouver" and the fans
in Holland, turned orange again! Sven inspired us to dig up
